Nusa Dua

Driving towards the eastern side of the Bukit Peninsula you come to a giant rendition of Balinese temple gates and you know you are entering the “gated” community of Nusa Dua.

The gated complex was a concept developed in the seventies by the Bali Tourism Development Corporation with the intention of protecting the locals from the influences of tourism. Following the displacement of the local community, Nusa Dua these days consists predominantly of hotel acreage and a well maintained road flanked by gardens that are manicured to perfection, all of which bears little resemblance to the hustle and bustle of the rest of Bali and reflects none of its exotic charm.

The area is also home to one of the islands best golf courses, Bali National Golf Club; Bali International Convention Centre http://www.baliconvention.com which has hosted many of the world’s leading Heads of State and the second Bali International Medical Centre which offers international standard medical and emergency care to residents and tourists in Bali.
