A 175 acre urban oasis, Norfolk Botanical Garden features 30 themed gardens that bloom in different seasons plus several ways to enjoy the plantings. In spring the Rhododendron Glade blazes with 175 varieties of rhododendrons and azaleas, and the Rose Garden blooms with 250,000 roses. In summer the hydrangea garden pops with 300 flowers and the Kitchen Garden grows vegetables and herbs. In fall Mirror Lake reflects the oranges and reds of the surrounding trees, and in winter camellias bloom in the Camellia Garden. The World of Wonders (WOW) Children’s Garden features dancing fountains and various planting.
A 45-minute narrated boat tour is available Spring to October; fee required. Cycle through the garden Spring to October on Bike Nights. On summer Sundays, you and your dog can enjoy the 12 miles of fragrant pathways.
Tip: The free trolley that departs from the Visitor Center makes several garden stops. Using the trolley is an easy way to see the garden with kids.
