If you are in Amsterdam on a Saturday, then head to the Noordermarkt. Not only can you visit Winkel 43 for a slice of their delicious apple pie, but you can also visit the farmer’s market (Boerenmarkt op de Noordermarkt).
The market began in 1987 when Adri Vallentin of Winkel set-up nine biological stalls in an attempt to lure more clients into his cafe on Saturday mornings. The idea quickly became popular and the farmer’s market was born.
You will find biological eggs, fresh fish, bread, honey, herbs, spices, nuts, homemade cakes, and cheese — including the famous Gouda cheese.
