Set in Zadar’s Benedictine Convent, the museum has an impressive collection of religious items such as paintings, tapestries, stone sculptures, gold, silver and church vestments.
Everything is beautifully displayed and though the items can get a bit repetitive you’ll get an insight into the religious life of the city.
One of the key pieces in the collection is the Angevin crown of Queen Elizabeth Kotromanic – the wife of Louis the Great, the King of Hungary and Croatia. The crown features more than 100 precious stones and is a wonderful example of gold smithing from the second half of the 14th century. The crown has also been exhibited at the Musee de Cluny in Paris.
