Home to the world’s largest collection of folk art, MOIFA boasts more than 150,00 artifacts in its permanent collection. Its popular long-term exhibition, Multiple Visions: A Common Bond, showcases toys, masks, textiles, and miniatures from more than 100 nations. Rotating exhibits in the past have touched on the Japanese kite flying tradition, flamenco dance, and colcha embroidery (a Spanish Colonial art present in New Mexico). Each July, the museum hosts the International Folk Art Market, bringing artists from more than 100 countries to Museum Hill for a multi-day show and sale. For a sampling of the art you’ll find at market, stop in the museum’s gift shop any time.
