This museum is a perfect jumping off point to explore Native American culture in Santa Fe. More than 50 Native American voices guide you through “Here, Now, and Always,” the museum’s permanent exhibit devoted to indigenous origin stories and contemporary histories. Rotating exhibits have touched on Native American clothing designers, basketry, the role of turquoise, and photography, to name a few. Art buyers will want to stop in another useful exhibit devoted to the fine details that distinguish one Pueblo’s pottery from another’s.
Free, docent-led tours are held daily at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.; however, as volunteers lead these tours, they may not be offered some days. If you’re interested in joining, call ahead to ensure it will be offered when you plan to visit.
