Can’t mountain bike on national park hiking trails? No worries, the Kaibab National Forest offers challenges aplenty. On the North Rim, try the 18-mile, single-track Rainbow Rim Trail follows along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and connects five major viewpoints that overlook the heart of the canyon. Download a PDF map. Besides forest service roads, the Arizona Trail stretches 800 miles from Mexico to Utah.
On the South Rim, access the Arizona Trail from FR 605 and FR 302 near Tusayan and from Hwy 64 at the trail sign near Grandview Point. The 1.1-mile Vishnu Trail begins north of the Grandview Firetower and goes to a viewpoint on the canyon rim. The Tusayan Bike Trails combine old logging roads and single-track trails in the Kaibab National Forest for 3 loops of 3, 8, and 9 miles and a 16-mile one-way trail. To access the Tusayan Bike Trails and the Arizona Trail from Tusayan, go north on Hwy 64 to FR 605. The trailhead is on the west side of the highway.
