Located just off I-264 (exit 17), Mount Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach was the first landfill park in the world. Some 60 feet
high and over 800 feet long, it was created by compacting layers of solid waste and clean soil. The expansive park, a local favorite for kite – flying, picnicking, and fishing, offers several walking
trails around two lakes, picnic shelters with charcoal grills, fitness stations and a skate park. The unique Kid’s Cove is a 26,000 sq. ft. accessible playground, fully ADA compliant. The Water Wise Demonstration Garden uses techniques that allow a garden to grow using a minimum of water.

A variety of sports equipment is available for free checkout at the Mount Trashmore Park office, including badminton equipment, corn hole boards and bags, footballs, frisbees, horseshoes, rubber playground balls, soccer balls, volleyballs and volleyball nets, as well as wheelchairs.
