Expensive residential neighborhood half-way up Victoria Peak

The Mid-Levels is a cool place to live–both figuratively and literally. Located on the slope of Victoria Peak above Central and Sheung Wan, it’s a popular residental area for chuppies (Hong Kong yuppies) and expatriates because of its swanky apartment  buildings with sweeping views and slightly cooler temperatures. Access to Central is easy via the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator, which runs downhill for commuters in the morning and then reverses uphill the rest of the day. Many ethnic eateries and bars have sprung up alongside the escalator and in the SoHo nightlife district. Another advantage of living in the Mid-Levels is its lush vegetation; Bowen Road, popular with joggers and people walking their dogs, is a winding road providing great views of Hong Kong from Central through Wan Chai.
