Known by the gold signage with two donkeys and crown, Matusko Vinarija features an atmospheric brick cellar modeled after the cellars of France and has a capacity of 4,500 litres.
Mato Violic or Matusko is a firm believer in ‘variety is the spice of life’ – here you’ll find a wide selection of wines from which the Dingac, Plavac Mali, Rukatac are the stand-outs.
The sprawling cellar gets the thumbs up, but the restaurant, perched on the cliff-face is the winner. The outside terrace offers postcard views over the Adriatic, that will surely have you spend a couple of hours here sipping on the good Matusko drop. Call ahead to reserve a spot for the best table.
There’s also olive oil.
