If you hew to the status quo, make haste elsewhere. Mason & Rook aims to be hip, and it helps that the hotel lies in a prime location steps from the heart of its Greater U neighborhood.
Expect generously sized rooms (300 to 425 square feet of space) decorated with eclectic artwork, dark woods, retro vinyls, and worn leather. This is a Kimpton Hotel property, and like most in this brand, the Mason & Rook offers “specialty suites,” the theme here being spa features in the bathroom; there are 18 such suites.
The new hotel (just opened in March 2016) is most excited about its rooftop pool, lounge, and bar, scheduled to debut in summer of 2016. Meanwhile, the hotel’s restaurant and bar Radiator awaits, offering a shuffleboard, seasonal courtyard, 8 beers and 4 wines on tap, and a menu influenced by Caribbean, Pan-Asian, Creole, and French cuisines..
Metro: McPherson Square on the Blue, Silver and Orange Lines. Vermont St./White House exit.
