Marconi Beach

Dunes, ocean, sand and sky as far as the eye can see

Marconi Beach in Wellfleet stretches, unbroken in both directions, for as far as the eye can see. Atop the towering sandy cliff that runs the length of the beach, the delicate landscape holds rare broom crowberry and waves of poverty grass.

Climb the platform above the Marconi station for an even longer view. Marconi jump-started the era of instant electronic obsolescence when he completed the first transatlantic wireless communication between the US and France: Within a few years Marconi’s rig was replaced by a snazzier station in Chatham.

Truly impressive new stairs that offer a stunning vista as well as access have replaced the stairs that were destroyed in a 2013 storm.
