A visit to the Long Trail Brewery in Bridgewater Corners is a great way to try the wide variety of beers they offer while sampling some great local food. You can also pick up as much Long Trail swag as you want, from t-shirts to pint glasses.
Named after the iconic hiking trail that runs the length of Vermont, Long Trail has been brewing since 1989. Their flagship beer, Long Trail Ale, is a solid amber ale that is widely available throughout Vermont. They’ve since expanded their selection considerably, and are constantly experimenting with new flavors and seasonal beers. If you’re looking for something with a punch, try the Double Bag, a double altbier (7.2% ABV), and if you’re looking for a knockout, try the Triple Bag (11%).
The brewery has a large outdoor deck with plenty of seating overlooking the Ottauquechee River, and they often light up a fire pit in the winter. You can also check out the brewing operation from an operation deck. The restaurant itself has an open layout with high top barrel tables and bench seating, or you can pull up a stool at the central bar.
