Croissant d’Or is a popular little breakfast spot located in the heart of the French Quarter. If you have never had a croissant (or even if you have) these are not to be missed. Be forewarned that once you taste a real croissant you can never go back to mainstream varieties. The ones served here are flaky and buttery without being greasy. They also serve a fine selection of other baked goods, as well as lunch items such as quiche and sandwiches on fresh baked baguettes. Stepping inside you will feel as if you are entering an authentic French bakery. If the weather is nice, grab a table in the courtyard next to the fountain. Relax and enjoy the ambiance over a cup of cafe au lait and one of the flaky, buttery rolls for which they are well known.
