Laguna Gloria – The Contemporary

Sitting on the shores of Lake Austin, this 1916 Italianate Villa on the National Register of Historic Places was formerly the home of Texas philanthropist Clara Driscoll, and is now one of the two homes of The Contemporary Austin, as well as the home of the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park.

Not that you need to know before you visit, but in case it clears up any confusion: The museum opened to the public as Laguna Gloria Art Museum, later became the Austin Museum of Art, moved their primary location downtown but kept the villa, merged with Arthouse at the Jones Center to become AMOA-Arthouse, and is now under the brand The Contemporary. The locals still just call it Laguna Gloria.
