Located in the western town of Kapolei, about 25 miles from Waikiki, are four man-made lagoons perfect for family swimming and snorkeling. The lagoons are shallow, calm, and well protected due to the rock walls keeping the more treacherous waves out. Spread out among some of the best resorts on the island, there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or explore the many walking paths.
If you’re not staying at one of the nearby resorts, public parking in designated areas for the lagoons is available on a first-come first served basis from sunrise to sunset. You can purchase parking passes at one of the hotels as well.
While the lagoons are known for their calm waters, strong ocean currents can be unpredictable, so be aware that there are no lifeguards on duty there.
