In 1976, ambitious folks constructed a tunnel through this 725-year-old redwood. And guess what? Now travelers can drive right through the tree. Simple as that.
The tree is more than 90 feet tall. The trunk is over 15 feet wide. That being said, those with larger vehicles might have trouble squeezing through the opening.
Many bring bikes and snap photos that way.
It takes a while to pass because everyone jumps out of the car and takes pictures.
While this is merely a novelty, the pleasure of stopping and inhaling the redwoods is worth the wait.
