Spend a whole day wandering through this fun museum learning about an event known as the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports. The Derby Museum has film footage of derbies, dating back to 1919, and an amazing collection of memorabilia, including hats worn on Millionaires Row and silks worn by jockeys. Mount a simulated horse and try to stay in the jockey’s stance for the two minutes it takes to run the 1.25 mile Derby route. You’ll have a whole new appreciation for what these true athletes do on a daily basis. Don’t leave without attending the film, The Greatest Race, a 360 degree multimedia presentation that used 96 projectors to tell the story of the Kentucky Derby. If you have time, sign up for a walking tour or backside tour of Churchill Downs. Café and gift shop on site too.
