Local fave The Keg and Patio Bar has been around a long time. The family-owned business – known for its good food and great service – sits just off Broadway and features two halves: The Keg, a restaurant/bar, and the Patio Bar, an open-air bar.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at The Keg. The breakfast menu features French toast, omelets and the “Keg Muffin” (similar to an Egg McMuffin). Lunch and dinner = burgers, gyros, homemade pizzas, hand-breaded chicken nuggets and sandwiches. There’s also a popular Friday Fish Fry (cod) and kids’ menu.

The owners hail from Chicago and are big football fans, which explains the Keg’s Packer-Bear decor, and the fact that the bar always televises the Packer-Bear games. Fans of both teams are welcome, although there tend to be more Bears fans in the crowd.

The brightly-colored Patio Bar next door features live music on Friday and Saturday nights on a small stage at the far end. You can order off The Keg menu and eat in here if you’d prefer.

This place is one of those great surprises. It doesn’t look like anything that special from the outside, but the food is good, especially the pizza, everything’s clean, prices are modest and, yes, the service is wonderful.
