One of Thailand’s most successful art photographers, Manit Sriwanichpoom, runs this gallery down the street from Sri Mariamman Temple (AKA The Hindu Temple) with his partner. On the ground level of an old wood shophouse painted mint green, Manit’s photos hang are displayed along with antique Hindu posters and paintings. Books on Thai photography, Carlos Castaneda, and Hindu mysticism sit on tables at the front.
Visitors are welcome to head through a small kitchen area at the back, take off their shoes, and go upstairs. In a small, lofty space with delicate floral motifs framing the window, there are temporary exhibitions by foreign and Thai photographers.
This is a unique gallery on one of Bangkok’s most charming streets. There are many vegetarian restaurants here thanks to the Hindu Temple.
