Designed as a gender-equal accompaniment to Belgium’s most famous little boy, Jeanneke has yet to achieve equal fame. Her popularity is growing, however – and the Jeanneke Foundation will happily take your cash and give it to cancer research.
She was apparently designed and installed as a feminist response to her more famous male counterpart and was created in 1985 by sculptor Denis-Adrien Debouvrie. Ever controversial, for reasons that never seem clear, she squats behind a locked grille these days.
