Jasper Tramway

Canada’s longest and highest cable car

Save to my Account

The two thirty-person cable cars of the Jasper Tramway take turns in climbing 1000m in 7 minutes to provide splendid views (at 2285m) over Jasper.

The summit also has an interpretive centre and an expensive restaurant; but best of all is the hike (1hr • moderate • 2.8km return) to the top of Whistlers Mountain (2470m), for even better views and a bit of high-alpine exercise. Bring warm clothes year-round.

In peak season you may well have a long wait for the Tramway, in which case you might just take the trail up from Jasper International Hostel (4hrs • hard • 7.7km one way), then ride the tram down for $16.25.
