It’s one of those things you either love or hate, but Imo’s DEFINES St. Louis-style pizza.
It’s thin, almost a cracker-like crust, and topped with Provel cheese rather than Mozzarella. And the round pie is cut in squares.
Don’t complain – this is as authentic as it gets in St. Louis. Imo’s was started by good Italian Catholics in the 1960s.
The original location is carry-out only, but there are about 90 locations throughout metro St. Louis, and has now expanded across Missouri and Illinois.
BTW – not all Imo’s are licensed to sell beer. If you require a cold one with your pizza, try the downtown locations near Busch Stadium.
