You’ve seen your family or friends come back from a trip to Amsterdam with photos of themselves twisted around gigantic letters spelling out “I amsterdam”. And now you want the photo opportunity. But just where are those letters?
Initially part of a marketing campaign that quickly took on a life of its own, the I amsterdam letters are located at the back of the Rijksmuseum on Museumplein. Impressive in size, the letters are more than two metres high and over 23.5 metres wide.
There is a second set of letters at Schiphol Airport and a third version travels around the city, showing up at key events. For a smaller experience, head to the courtyard of the Amsterdam Museum where a scaled down version stand. One way or another, you are almost guaranteed a great photo op.
