Look for this 17th century Renaissance building between Church of Saint Martin and the Unterlinden Museum in the center of town. It is now a restaurant and 18-room 4-star hotel.

The exterior is elaborately decorated with more than a hundred sculpted heads (têtes). It was built as a private home for Anton Burger in 1609. The statue on top of the gable out front was made in 1902 by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi (designer of the Statue of Liberty), who was born in Colmar.

Owned by Carmen and Marc Rohfritsch, the friendly staff speaks English. Guest rooms are spacious and have private bathrooms. Many tourist sites are within walking distance.

The restaurant menu features more than the standard Alsatian dishes. Try one of the fixed price menus to enjoy several tastes of Alsace.

Tables are arranged to separate diners into small groups, which inspires quiet conversation and a bit of romance.
