One of the nicer – if not the nicest – hotels in Burlington, Hotel Vermont is set on a quiet side street near downtown, within easy walking distance of the waterfront and Church Street. As the name implies, the hotel’s focus is on all things Vermont. They offer several different packages depending on the season, including a ‘maple madness’ package, a ski package, and a beer tasting package, led by the hotel’s own beer concierge.
The hotel’s bar and restaurant, Juniper, specializes in cocktails made with Vermont spirits, as well as locally brewed beer of course. Juniper serves breakfast and dinner, the latter of which features locally-sourced small plates. The bar features a nice outdoor seating area, where you can gather around the fire pit on chilly nights. In the winter, the hotel hosts the very popular Ice Bar event, with ice sculptures, local spirits and heavy hors d’ouerves.
The well-appointed rooms at Hotel Vermont range from the standard king, to a king with whirlpool and gas fireplace (complete with flannel pajamas), to spacious suites. The multi-room suites are great for larger groups or families – the top floor Mount Philo suite has great views and guests receive nightly Vermont goodies. Make sure to book early in the summer as weekends fill up quickly, especially during events like the Vermont Brewer’s Festival.
