Housed in an Austro-Hungarian villa that was built in 1898 and located on the main street, the Hotel Continental is your one stop shop for all things Opatija.
Famous for its cafe that prepares coffee in 50 different ways, there’s also a a pub serving up more than 40 local and foreign beers, along with a juice bar and sunny outdoor terrace. These can’t be outdone by Continental’s patisserie offering Austrian-inspired cakes and handmade chocolates, along with Opatija’s famous Camellia Cake.
If none of this tickles your fancy, then try the in-house delicatessen offering prosciutto (prsut), cheese, olives and shelves and shelves of olive oils. The deli is a great stop to get freshly made takeaway sandwiches if you want to spend your day at the beach or hiking the trails of Ucka Nature Park.
The rooms aren’t bad, although slightly dated compared with the common areas but the location makes up for this with the nearest beach and Villa Angiolina only about 200 metres away.
