Holiday Shores Campground & Resort sits a mile or so north of Chula Vista, right on the Wisconsin River. The 169-acre property boasts 2,200 feet of river frontage and, accordingly, the campground rents all sorts of watercraft, from canoes to boats to jet skis. You can even go parasailing here. And you don’t have to be staying at the campground to do so.
Many of the 500 sites are occupied by seasonal renters, although there are plenty of spots for RVs and tents, too. Owners Alice and Frank Ward also rent park units, cabins and motel units, the latter of which come with maid service.
The resort offers the typical basketball, volleyball, playground equipment, etc. But it also offers pools, a drive-in movie theater and Club 21, a bar. Fire truck and train rides are regularly offered during the season.
There’s no on-site restaurant, but a food cart regularly operates. And during the season, the kitchen makes fresh cake doughnuts every morning, topped with sugar, vanilla, chocolate or sprinkles. Just as they have been doing for +35 years.
Everyone who stays at Holiday Shores Campground & Resort at least two nights receives four free passes to Chula Vista’s waterpark. Passes are valid every day of your stay.
