After passing the unsettling plaque inside the entrance marking the 1966 Arno River flood line, a tiny elevator zips you up to this highly pleasing, 28 room hotel just a few steps from the Ponte Vecchio and only a minute from the Uffizi.
The views here are outstanding. You can see the Ponte Vecchio and Arno River from the common room and the rooftop terrace/garden is the kind of place people dream of holding their weddings. Rooms, some of which also have beguiling views, are smallish, but just fine. Bathrooms range from little stalls with a shower to spacious with hydro-baths. All have hairdryers and air conditioning.
A buffet breakfast is included in the price. Extra charge for wi-fi. I’ve labeled them a ‘mid-range’ hotel, but prices vary wildly and can be unbelievably low during low season.
