Outdoor picnic tables packed with families chowing down on fish scored from the market line the Hanalei River. The Dolphin restaurant is designed like the inside of a ship with wooden walls, funky windows, and lots of artwork. The ambiance, however, comes with a hefty price. Everything here is offered at tourist prices, from the wealth of funky tropical drinks like the Hanalei dreamcicle or the tiki torch (even the nonalcoholic smoothies), to the generous portions of food.
Pupus worth a try are the artichokes, poke, seafood chowder, and fried shellfish (though pupus are not necessary at dinner because everyone gets a big bowl of family style salad with your entree). They specialize in hearty plates of fresh caught seafood. The sushi lounge is manned by a master sushi chef.
There’s a Poipu location as well.
