For more than 25 years, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando has been scaring people to death. And they love it. Visitors come from other parts of the country just to experience the terror and fear. Halloween Horror Nights is more than just a Halloween night fright. It lasts for 6 weekends from mid-September to Oct. 31. It starts at 6:30 p.m. and is a separate ticket event.
The streets of Universal Studios may be friendly during the daytime but on special nights they are turned into themed scare zones where menacing actors spring from darkened corners. People may travel in groups on Halloween Horror Nights for protection—and to share the fright with friends—as they venture into the scare zones. But ghouls and zombies and other classic horror creatures know how to make anyone scream.
Each year special effects haunted houses based on famous slasher films, horror movies and TV series appear throughout the park. The houses are known for their gruesome props, sound effects and elaborate set decoration. Live shows are also featured as is the chance simply to ignore it all and enjoy the park rides.
In 2016, The Exorcist film for the first time is one of the star attractions, offering new mazes guaranteed to make guests see, hear, feel and even smell the classic scary moments from the iconic film. Making a return appearance, and with chain saw in hand, is the notorious Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. More characters and themes will be part of the mayhem.
Universal recommends the event is not appropriate for anyone under 13. Visitors are not allowed to wear costumes or masks. Only the actors.
