Strasbourg's Big Island

Save to my Account

La Grande Île is the historic center of Strasbourg and the most interesting part of the city. This stretch of land is surrounded by branches of the Île River and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, due to its well-preserved medieval structures.

Allow plenty of time to stroll along the cobblestone streets, visit the centuries-old buildings, and admire the beauty of the half-timbered houses.

When you need a break, hop a ride on Batorama or grab a table at one of the waterside cafés in  La Petite France area.

Do not miss:

  • Strasbourg Cathedral, Cathedrale Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg
  • Notre Dame Museum, Musée de l’Oeuvre Notre-Dame
  • Petite France
  • Kammerzell House, Maison Kammerzel
  • Rohan Palace, Palais de Rohan
