Sporting a faux Italianate cityscape, the Venetian’s luxury mall is almost a world unto itself. Let yourself float here off the Strip via the mini Rialto Bridge and its anachronistic moving walkway. Inside high heels go clickety-clack down cobblestone streets past designer shops, while operatic singers provide “streetmosphere.” Catch a free live performance in St Mark’s Square while waiting in line at the Italian gelato cart or by the boarding spot for the Venetian’s indoor gondola rides with singing gondoliers.
Though it’s now past its prime, Tao restaurant and nightclub has one of the longest velvet-rope lines on the Strip, especially on summer weekends when the pool lounge heats up the daylight scene. Or cure your hangover at the mall’s Canyon Ranch SpaClub, where you can get a cocoon body wrap, climb a 40-foot rock wall or fork into healthy cuisine at the café.
The mall extends into the neighboring Palazzo casino resort, leading past a two-story indoor waterfall (souvenir photo op alert). Jimmy Choo, Diane Von Furstenberg, Bottega Veneta, and Fendi are perfect companions for luxury department store Barneys New York. Smaller gems worth seeking out include Bauman Rare Books, where some first editions cost more than a $1000 spin of the roulette wheel.
On the Palazzo side of the mall, Espressamente Illy café and Double Helix wine bar are quick refueling stops, or settle in for happy hour and a splashy dinner at SushiSamba, where Japanese and South American tastes mix.
