This complex makes an impressive hilltop statement overlooking downtown Nassau and its harbor. A statue of Christopher Columbus guards its staircase.

Every governor since 1801 has resided here, since the days he served as the queen’s ambassador. Today he is appointed by the Bahamas’ prime minister.

The public gets its opportunities to experience the imposing pink-and-white, neoclassical-style house during the Changing of the Guard, the second and last Saturday of each month at 11 a.m., and a People-To-People Programme-sponsored free tea party the last Friday of the month from January through August.
