The Georgia Aquarium is like none you’ve experienced. A gift to the people of Georgia by The Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus, The Georgia Aquarium, continues to grow and evolve. You could spend the day in the five different habitat galleries, observing the 100,000 fish and mammals, of which there are 500-odd species.
You could almost spend your whole visit in Ocean Voyager in front of the massive window for the eight million gallon water tank and watch schools of fish and the gargantuan whale sharks swim by. You will get the sense of being underwater without getting wet.
Then there are the beluga whales of Cold Water Quest; River Scout’s Alligators and Piranha; Sea Turtles and lion fish of Georgia Explorer and then a full on reef system in Tropical Diver.
If that isn’t enough, enjoy Dolphin Tales, a Broadway style show with dolphins as the stars. There is also a 4-D Theater. The easiest way to purchase time-reserved tickets is through the aquarium Web site. Behind the scenes tours are available, as are over night stays and you can even arrange to “swim with the fishes,” but make sure to go online or call about an appointment.
The Georgia Aquarium also has ballrooms which feature the tanks as background, so if you want a special place for an event or wedding, this is it!
