Most gay and lesbian bars and lounges catering to gays and lesbians are located in Downtown Orlando, not near the theme parks. They cater mostly to locals. Straights also visit a few clubs on special show and entertainment nights. Among the best-known hangouts are:
The Parliament House claims to be the world’s largest all gay resort and entertainment complex. It offers over a half dozen bars and hosts its famous female impersonator shows on select nights. Savoy Orlando is a casual bar in the heart of Downtown Orlando serving a gay and lesbian crowd with disco and techno music, 2 bars and 2 pool tables. Open nightly, smoking permitted. Located at 1913 N. Orange Ave., Orlando, FL 32804; (407) 898-6766. Mixed gay/lesbian.
Stonewall wine and beer bar features a casual American menu with appetizers and pizza. It offers darts, pool tables and live performances. Located at 741 W. Church Street, 32805; (407) 373-0888. Mixed gay/lesbian.
Hank’s is a longtime (30+ years) casual gay bar with full bar, pool, darts and outdoor patio. Located at 5026 Edgewater Drive, 2810; (407) 291-2399
Hamburger Mary’s Bar and Grill This lesbian hangout features trivia night, show nights, early and late happy hours; also Sunday brunch. Located at 110 W Church St., 32801; (321) 319-0600.
Southern Nights (formerly Revolution Nightclub) has lots of space for a night’s entertainment themes. These include College Nights, music with DJ, Happy Hour Tuesdays with free BBQ, and fetish and costume parties. Located at 375 South Bumby Ave. 32803; (407) 228-9900. Mixed gay/lesbian.
