Orlando’s Gatorland adventure experiences truly are unique among area attractions and theme parks. Some could test your courage.
Gator Gauntlet Accessible Zip Line designed for those with mobility problems has riders soaring 350 feet through the air over an Alligator Breeding Marsh with 130 big gators waiting for a gift from the sky.
Screamin’ Gator Zip Line has its own entry.
Trainer for a Day (only 2 hours, really) lets you experience what it’s like to work with dangerous animals, including helping a trainer in the Gator Wrestling Arena. Minimum age of 12.
Gator Night Shine begins at dusk and lasts for 1-1.5 hours. Using a flashlight (torch) and a few hot dogs, take the winding wooden walkways of Gatorland’s Alligator Breeding Marsh. Shine your light on the gators and see their glaring red eyes; it might take your breath away. It may seem all the eyes in Hell are watching you. . .and waiting. An unforgettable experience. Tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance.
Adventure Hour takes you behind-the-scenes into the Breeding Marsh, in the daylight this time. You’ll have the opportunity to feed some of the hundreds of alligators there and also pose for photos. Offered daily but reservations required.
Rookie Wrestling—an adventure that takes real courage—puts you in the Gator Wrestlin’ Arena. Then you grab the closed mouth of a 6-9 foot gator you’re sitting on, have your photo taken and feel the skin of a reptile little changed for countless millions of years. Key to Courage: Fortunately for us, the alligator evolved with tremendous power for clamping down—but much less strength for opening its mouth.
To Gatorland home.
