It’s unbelievably cheesy, but you just can’t help staring at the kitschy animation that lights up the gigantic Viva Vision screen while 555,000 watts of sound worthy of arena heavy-metal rock blast. The free outdoor show’s themes seem to change on a whim, but they’re always pretty zany.

The canopy, which is the length of five football fields, stretches right down past all the casinos of Glitter Gulch, the city’s original den of vice since 1905. Live cover bands, stunt motorcyclists, street performers, and other attention-grabbers like the Slotzilla zip-line ($20 to $45 per rider) also keep drunken crowds entertained.

Some of the best views of the Fremont Street Experience are from the glass dome at ex-mayor Oscar Goodman’s steakhouse upstairs inside the Plaza casino hotel.
