Those with a head for heights and an eye for a view should make their way up to Bernese Oberland’s newest attraction (as of September 2015), the fabulous First Cliff Walk by Tissot.

A circular ‘summit trail’ comprised of a 40m-long single-rope suspension bridge (over an abyss, no less!), stairs and then a breathtaking 45m-long viewing platform, this is a thrilling way to get an eyeful of the region’s pristine meadows, towering Alpine peaks and soothing natural delights (lakes and waterfalls).

While it’s not cheap to get up here (tickets costs from CHF30), it is definitely worth it, and the Cliff Walk itself is without charge.
