Located at the waterfront end of Market Street, the Ferry Building has been serving the citizens of San Francisco since 1898. Ferries still depart from the terminal to destinations in the North and East Bay, including attractions such as Jack London Square in Oakland and the charming waterfront town of Sausalito. Inside the building, visitors are welcomed to the Ferry Building Marketplace, a collection of boutiques and eateries that would satisfy any well-traveled foodie. From freshly caught seafood to straight-out-of-the-oven breads, there’s a cuisine and price point for any taste and budget. The Ferry Building Farmer’s Market, occurring every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (the largest), brings in local farmers and food producers to stands surrounding the building. There’s nothing better than spending a sunny San Francisco day along the waterfront, sampling artisan foods and taking in the colors of locally grown organic produce.
