Many towns hold a weekly morning open-air food market, or farmers’ market, usually centered around the main square or a park. Food markets are a great place to see typical foods and find out what’s in season. You might want to stock up on picnic items or learn some of the food names by wandering around the market.
You’ll find lots of fresh produce, cheeses, cold cuts, flowers, and sometimes wine, bread, fish, or meat. Often special foods unique to the town or area and cooked foods will be sold at the market, too, and there are usually stalls with clothing and household items.
