The two best attributes of the Far View Lodge are the location and the views. Open April through October, Far View is the only lodging
within the park. The views are spectacular and can range up to 100 miles and into Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. Rooms are small, amenities are minimal and the walls are thin enough to hear your neighbor’s conversations. The Lodge is only 18 miles from the park entrance, but the drive on a narrow, winding road can take more than an hour.
Staying at the lodge lets you get to the key attractions before the day crowds arrive and is almost a necessity if you are taking an early morning, ranger led hike. The lodge has 150 rooms, with numerous configurations, and even with their shortcomings they do book up far in advance. We suggest you call and discuss the rooms rather than book on line as some of the rooms have been refurbished.
