Floribbean cuisine

Loosely based on a fictional character in the series of murder-mystery novels written by local author Randy Wayne White, its menu revolves around some of Doc Ford’s adventures on Sanibel, around Florida, and in the Caribbean and Latin America.

I recommend the spicy conch chowder, shrimp ceviche, cheesy Beach Bread, chicken taco salad, Yucatan shrimp, Panamainiac’s Pulled Pork sandwich, shrimp and grits, stone crab (in season), panko fried shrimp, penne and shrimp, and banana leaf snapper.

The bar sells specialty rums (excellent mojitos!) and shows sports on its flat-screen TVs, but it closes early – before 10:00 usually.

Comfortable booths and watersports-themed gear surround Doc Ford’s dining rooms and two bar areas. Sit outside when the no-see-ums aren’t biting.
