The campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are among the best accommodations offer in all of Orlando for theme park visitors. Where else at Disney World can people stay as reasonably each night? Of course, you have to provide your own sleeping quarters, which can be anything from a luxury RV to a simple tent. Or, you can rent an RV and never worry about driving it.
Fort Wilderness campsites number 799 (not 800!). They can handle RVs from 25-65 feet in length but also include tent/pop-up sites. Each site has a maximum occupancy of 10 campers and comes with —how is this for roughing it? — a cable TV connection. Groups of 20 or more may reserve the tents-only campsite.
The Fort Wilderness campground offers 4 different types of campsites:
Premium Campsites for 1 RV and 1 tent for up to 10 people.
Preferred Hook-Up Campsites for 1 RV and 1 tent for up to 10 people..
Campsites with partial hook-up for tent/pop-up campsite or van camper-type vehicle plus one tent for up to 10 people.
Campsites with full hook-up for 1 RV plus 1 tent or 1 pop-up or van camper-type vehicle plus 1 tent for up to 10 people.
Campsite amenities include high-speed Internet access, picnic table and charcoal grill. All campsites except tent/pop-up have sewer. Pets are allowed in select Premium, Preferred and Full Hook-Up campsite loops. All pets must be kept on a handheld leash or confined in the interior of the owner’s climate-controlled personal recreational vehicle. Pets are not permitted in tents and pop-up campers. A kennel also is available.
Air-conditioned comfort stations in the campsite loops provide private toilets and showers, laundry facilities, telephones and ice machines. Video rental, baby sitting services and grocery supplies also available. For a description of all activities, restaurants and entertainment, see the Fort Wilderness Resort entry.
