Watch a lion surveying a spotted hyena and other animals standing atop a ten-foot mound in Predators Ridge. See landscaped habitats that are home to 12 African species of mammals, birds and reptiles. Stand in a central point within the Toyota Elephant Passage and watch elephants, rhinos and tapirs from tropical Asia cross overhead bridges to reach different yards. Or, you can get so close to tigers that you can even smell them and watch them walk on a bridge over your hear at The Edge exhibit.
Denver Zoo visitors will see rare exotic animals including leopards, king cobras, black rhinos and vampire bats – just some of the 3,500 animals. Take the youngsters on a train ride or the old-fashioned carousel.
Plan on spending several hours, because the zoo is spread over 80 acres within Denver’s City Park. You’ll find the feeding and show times for various animals on the website.
