Don’t let the rather plain exterior of Denny’s Diner fool you. The inside features crazy decor (think Superman in a phone booth, a train chugging along the ceiling), and the food is great.
Denny’s serves breakfast and lunch daily, plus “dinner,” which is simply a few heartier entrees for those who want items like meatloaf, fried chicken and sirloin for lunch.
The diner is famous for its immense cinnamon rolls; staff bakes them fresh every morning and serves them with a generous cup of frosting on the side. Everything’s homemade, including the corned beef hash, and the malts and shakes are crafted from hand-scooped ice cream.
Breakfast items include the typical pancakes and eggs; regulars love the eggs benedict available on Saturday and Sunday (you can ask for homemade toast to go with it).
Lunch consists of a variety of hamburgers and sandwiches, plus two salads. Beverages include “nostalgia” sodas like Bubble Up and Moon Shine (free refills), plus tiny bottles of Coke. (You can keep the bottle.)
There are also a handful of miscellaneous items for sale, like immense, chocolatey turtles, baklava, BBQ sauce and hot sauce.
Full breakfasts can be ordered to go.
Payment is cash only, although there’s an ATM in the restaurant.
