If you know nothing about the Naive art form that originated in Croatia in the middle of the 20th century, or know everything about it; this museum is for you.
The highly colourful, Naive movement is a bit odd (chickens are sometimes bigger than houses) and often political. Most don’t realise that the entire movement centres around painting on glass, which gives the works incredible dimension.
The tiny museum is home to about 1,600 paintings by the likes of Generalic, Rabuzin (personal favourite), Mraz and Feje. Keep in mind that only about 10 per cent of the works are on display…the museum really is very small.
There’s a gift shop where you can buy prints.
