Under striped awnings along the colorful Cours Saleya, this weekly food and flower market takes place every day except Monday (when antique vendors set up shop), and is one of Nice’s most popular attractions.
Filled with all the colors, scents and flavors of Provence, the Cours Saleya is located in the heart of Old Town, just behind the Quai des Etats-Unis. This lively market goes from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is lined with cafe terraces where you can sip coffee and watch the lively market banter.
Shop for local fruit, vegetables, and souvenirs like soap, spices, and local olive oil, and be sure to taste some of Nice’s food specialties, like Socca, a savory crunchy crepe made from chickpea flour.
The Cours Saleya dates to the sixteenth century and some of Nice’s most stunning baroque and Italianate architecture is also on display along this pedestrian thoroughfare.
