The renowned Cours Saleya is located just behind the Quai des Etats-Unis and on the edge of Vieux Nice.
The reason for Cours Saleya’s renown, the amazing flower and vegetable market, takes place daily on what used to thought of as just a fashionable promenade. Every type of flower and vegetable is available but sure to get here soon after 6am to secure the best!
On Monday the flower market becomes a flea or antique market. Here lovers of old artefacts can wander between the stalls seeking out exactly what takes their fancy. Moreover, there is such a huge variety on display leaves the buyer spoiled for choice! (see website for details)
Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse lived here. Check out the Cais de Pierla Palace at the eastern end of the Cours Saleya.
Tip: For a great overall view of the market, climb the steps on the south side of the Cours Saleya opposite the Palais de la Prefecture.
