Colmar is small enough to visit on foot, and large enough to keep you interested for two or three days. Make your first stop the Office of Tourism at Place Unterlinden, to pick up information on special events around town and exhibits at the city’s five museums.
Take your time, taste a bit of wine, snack on treats from the pâtisserie, and sit down to at least one fine meal in a top restaurant. L’Atelier du Peintre at 1 rue Schongauer and JY’s at 17 Rue de la Poissonnerie, are excellent choices. The friendly staff at the Tourism Office can give you advice on other eateries in various price ranges and different locations around the city.
